The River Blackwater marks part of the boundary between Berkshire and Hampshire, and my Sandhurst practice sits close to it. For many people in north-east Hampshire, that makes in-person counselling a short and simple journey, even though it means crossing a county line.

Hampshire towns near my practice

These towns are all within easy reach. Each has its own page with more about getting here and the kinds of support people from that area might look for:

• Yateley, about 4 miles and around 10 minutes away
• Farnborough, about 7 miles and around 15 minutes away
• Fleet, about 8 miles and around 20 minutes away

Villages between them, such as Blackwater and Hawley, are often closer still.

Because Sandhurst sits where Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire meet, coming to me may mean crossing a county boundary without really noticing. What matters is how easy it feels for you to get here regularly, and whether the journey suits the rhythm of your week.

Counselling online, from Basingstoke to the coast

Hampshire is a big county, and if you live in Basingstoke, Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth or elsewhere, travelling to Sandhurst every week may not be practical. Online counselling by Zoom means distance does not have to stand in the way.

You need a quiet, private space and a device with a camera. Many people are surprised by how connected an online session can feel, and research suggests online therapy can be as effective as in-person work.

Who I support across Hampshire

I work with individuals and couples, and with women navigating menopause. With Farnborough and Aldershot close by, people connected with the armed forces are very welcome, as are commuters, parents, carers and those facing a big life change.

People come to counselling with all sorts of things, for example anxiety, depression, bereavement, stress, anger and relationship difficulties, as well as questions of identity, sexuality and spirituality. You do not need to know exactly what is wrong to reach out.

Heart, mind and body

My approach, which I call the Heart Mind Body Solution, blends traditional psychotherapy with neuroscience-based coaching and mind–body awareness. As a certified yoga teacher, I sometimes weave breath and grounding into our work, always with your agreement. The aim is not to fix you, but to help you understand yourself and find your own way forward.

I have over 20 years’ experience, and I also offer life coaching for people who want to focus on the future and make practical changes. Some people move naturally from counselling into coaching as they begin to feel stronger.

For counsellors and psychotherapists in Hampshire, I also offer clinical supervision, online or in person, drawing on my Diploma in Therapeutic Supervision.

From first enquiry to first session

After you enquire, I arrange a free phone chat. If we decide to work together, we agree a time for your first session and talk about how we will proceed. Individual sessions are usually weekly, with regular reviews. You can find current fees on my prices page.

Some people commit to an initial six sessions and then review; many continue open-ended. Couples usually start weekly and may later move to fortnightly or monthly sessions as things settle.

Keeping you safe

Our sessions are confidential, with a small number of exceptions that I explain clearly at the start, such as child safeguarding concerns or a serious risk to someone else. I work under my accrediting body’s ethical code, with regular supervision. I am UKCP accredited and a BACP member.
