Close by, even across a county border
County lines can make places feel further apart than they really are. Sandhurst lies just north of Camberley, across the Blackwater Valley, and for most people the drive to my practice takes around ten minutes depending on traffic and where in town you start. A sat nav will find the most direct way once I share the full address when your first session is booked.
Busy lives, and room to pause
Camberley is a busy place. Perhaps you are commuting, holding a responsible job, raising a family or caring for parents, sometimes all at once. It is common to keep going until something gives: sleep, patience, health or a relationship.
Counselling is a chance to stop and notice what is happening, without being told what to do. I offer a calm, confidential space where you can think out loud, feel what you feel and begin to find your own way forward.
Supporting military and service families
With strong army connections in and around Camberley and Sandhurst, you may be the partner or family member of someone who serves, or have served yourself. Whichever it is, you are very welcome. Frequent moves, long absences and the pressure to cope can take a quiet toll. You do not have to explain everything from the beginning; we can simply start where you are.
Ways I can help
I work integratively, combining traditional psychotherapy with coaching and mind–body awareness. People come to counselling for help with all kinds of things, for example anxiety, grief and loss, anger, low mood, and relationship difficulties. I also see couples, using approaches such as Imago Dialogue and Gottman methods to help partners really hear one another.
Deciding between in-person and online
Ten minutes is a short trip, and many people value the separation of coming to a different space. Others find that the easiest time to talk is from home once the house is quiet. Online sessions by Zoom are just as available, and research suggests online therapy can be as effective as meeting face to face. You are welcome to mix the two.
Your first session
Before we meet, we have a free phone chat so you can ask questions and get a feel for how I work. In our first session, I will invite you to share what has brought you and what you hope might change. There is no script, and you do not need to arrive with everything neatly explained.
We will also agree practical things: how often we meet, how we will review progress, and how confidentiality works. Some people commit to an initial six sessions and then take stock; many prefer to work open-ended. Either way, you stay in charge of the pace.
Reach out when you are ready
If you live in Camberley and would like to talk, book a free discovery call. It is a relaxed chat, with no commitment, to see whether we are a good fit.
Questions about counselling near Camberley
Do you offer counselling in Camberley itself?
My sessions take place at my practice in Sandhurst, which is around 10 minutes’ drive from Camberley for most people. I also work online by Zoom.
Does it matter that I live in Surrey and you are in Berkshire?
Not at all. I welcome clients from across the area where Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire meet, and the county line makes no difference to how we work.
I am a service spouse. Can I come to you for support?
Yes. If you are part of a military family, you are very welcome to bring whatever is on your mind, including the pressures of service life.
