Benefits of online therapy
- You can create a comfortable and private space in your own home from which to attend therapy
- You may find it easier to talk, focus and express yourself
- You may enjoy wearing comfortable clothes and avoiding a commute
- You may have more flexibility around scheduling
- Research shows that online therapy is as effective as in-person therapy
Challenges during online therapy
- Internet connection, I can help with setting up of our Zoom connection if needed
- We may have to be more verbal, as we cannot see our whole bodies. Setting camera at eye level can help with eye contact and facial expressions
- Self -Care around screen time is important, especially if you are using computers for work.
To get the most out of your sessions…
- Check that your space is private and comfortable
- Do Not Disturb notices
- Headphones can help with privacy
- Turn off other applications/notifications and phone on silent
- Please avoid alcohol/drugs, before or during sessions
- Pets are welcome, if not distracting
- Give yourself time before and after the session, before re-joining family/colleagues.
