Care for people who care for others
Frimley is closely associated with Frimley Park Hospital, and if your working life involves looking after others, in healthcare or beyond, you are very welcome here. Shift patterns, emotionally demanding work and little time to recover can gradually take their toll.
When your job is to be steady for everyone else, it can be hard to admit you need support yourself. Counselling offers a confidential space where you do not have to be the capable one, and where your own experience matters.
When what you have seen stays with you
Difficult experiences do not always fade on their own. Sometimes they return as intrusive memories, a sense of being on edge, or feeling numb and disconnected. If that sounds familiar, we can work gently and carefully at your pace. You can read more on my trauma counselling page, and about stress and burnout too.
Getting to my practice
From Frimley, the journey to Sandhurst is around twelve minutes for most people, heading north-west through the Camberley area. As always, traffic makes a difference, so allow a little extra time. I share the full address when your first session is booked.
For some people, the short drive home afterwards becomes a useful buffer, a few quiet minutes to let the session settle before stepping back into family life or preparing for the next shift.
Online sessions around changing rotas
If your working hours change week to week, online counselling by Zoom can make regular sessions more realistic. You can talk from home without adding travel to a long day. Some people come in person when they can and meet online at other times, which is perfectly fine.
Beginning, gently
We start with a free phone chat to talk about what you are looking for. In the first session we explore what has brought you and agree how we will work together. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We go at a pace that feels safe for you.
Some people commit to an initial six sessions and then review; others prefer to work open-ended. Individual sessions last 50 minutes and cost £120, paid by bank transfer beforehand. Full details are on my prices page.
Beyond work
Of course, you do not need to work in a caring role to come. Parents, people facing bereavement, couples wanting to reconnect and people who simply feel stuck or low without knowing why are all welcome. My integrative approach draws on humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive perspectives, and I blend counselling with coaching and mind–body awareness, including breath and mindfulness.
Whatever you bring, my aim is to offer a warm, steady presence and a space where you can begin to understand yourself with more kindness. Over time, small shifts inside can lead to real changes in how you live.
