Counselling in Berkshire

My practice is in Sandhurst, in the south-east corner of Berkshire, and I work online with people across the rest of the county.

A Berkshire practice on the county’s southern edge

Sandhurst sits at the southern tip of Berkshire, right where the county meets Surrey and Hampshire. It is where I see clients in person, in a calm and private room where you can take time to think and feel. I share the full address when your first session is booked.

Being on the edge of the county means my practice is especially easy to reach from the towns and villages of the Bracknell Forest and Wokingham areas.

It also means people are welcome from Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire alike, and the county line makes no difference to how we work together.

Choosing between in-person and online

If you live within a short drive, coming to Sandhurst can give you a clear, protected space away from home and work. The journey itself can become part of the process, time to gather your thoughts beforehand and to let things settle afterwards.

If you are further away, or life is simply very full, online sessions may make it much easier to keep a regular rhythm. Some people start one way and switch later, or combine the two. We can talk it through during your free discovery call and find what fits.

If you live in one of these places, in-person counselling is likely to be a short drive away. Each page has a little more about getting here and the kinds of support people from that area might look for:

Online counselling for the rest of Berkshire

Berkshire stretches a long way west, and a journey to Sandhurst is not realistic for everyone. If you live in Reading, Newbury, Maidenhead, Windsor, Slough or anywhere else in the county, online counselling by Zoom lets us work together from wherever you feel comfortable.

Research suggests online therapy can be as effective as meeting in person, and many people appreciate not having to travel. All you need is a private space, a reliable connection and a device with a camera.

Who I work with

I see individuals and couples from across Berkshire, and I support women through menopause, drawing on my own experience. I also offer clinical supervision for other therapists, and wellbeing workshops and mental health awareness training for organisations, at your workplace or online.

Reasons people seek counselling

People come to counselling with all sorts of things, for example anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, anger, bullying, relationship difficulties and questions around identity, sexuality or spirituality. Others simply feel stuck and want to understand themselves better. My integrative approach combines humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive perspectives with coaching and mind–body awareness, so we can find a way of working that suits you.

How we begin

You can send an enquiry, after which I will arrange a free phone chat. If it feels right, we book a first session, where we agree how we will work together. Individual sessions are 50 minutes and cost £120; couples sessions are £140 for 50 minutes or £175 for 75 minutes. You will find full details on my prices page.

Some people commit to an initial six sessions and then review; many work open-ended. Individual sessions are usually weekly, while couples usually meet weekly at first and later move to fortnightly or monthly sessions.

Confidential, professional and supervised

I am UKCP accredited and a BACP member, with over 20 years’ experience. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and a Diploma in Therapeutic Supervision. I work under my accrediting body’s ethical code and receive regular supervision, which helps keep our work safe and thoughtful.

Our sessions are confidential, apart from a few clear exceptions that I explain at the start, such as child safeguarding concerns or a serious risk to someone’s safety. I am not an emergency service. If you need urgent help, please call 999, NHS 111 (option 2 for mental health) or Samaritans on 116 123.
