Neighbours in the same corner of Berkshire
Crowthorne and Sandhurst sit side by side, and for most people in the village the journey to my practice is around eight minutes. One option is to head south towards Sandhurst on the A3095, though the quickest route will depend on where you start and the time of day.
Because it is such a short trip, sessions can slot in before work, after dropping children at school or during a quieter part of the day, without feeling like a major expedition. I share the full address once your first session is booked.
A space that is yours alone
In a close-knit village, it can be hard to find somewhere to say what you really feel. Friends and family care, but they also have their own view of you and their own feelings about what you are going through. Counselling offers something different: a confidential hour with someone who is there only for you.
I have been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist for over 20 years. I am UKCP accredited and a BACP member, and I bring warmth and curiosity rather than judgement.
Things you might bring from Crowthorne
Every person is different, and people come to counselling with all sorts of things. You might be feeling:
- worn down by stress or burnout from work or caring
- unsettled by a loss or a big life change
- unsure of themselves, or struggling with self-esteem
- stuck in the same arguments with a partner
I also work with couples of every kind, married or not, same-sex or heterosexual.
In the room or on screen
Living this close, coming in person is easy to fit in. Even so, online sessions by Zoom can be helpful if you are unwell, travelling, or simply prefer to talk from home. The work is the same either way, and you can change between the two as your life changes.
Your first session with me
Before we meet, we will have a free phone chat about what is going on for you. In the first session I will ask what has brought you to counselling and what you hope might change. We will agree how often to meet and how we will review things, perhaps after six sessions. You can go at your own pace, and you do not need to have the right words.
Mind and body together
Alongside talking, I sometimes bring in simple mind–body practices. I trained as a yoga teacher in 2013, and I am interested in how feelings show up physically: a clenched jaw, shallow breathing, a knot in the stomach. With your agreement, we might pause to notice the breath or what is happening in your body as we talk.
This is never about exercise or getting anything right. It is a gentle way of helping your nervous system settle so that difficult feelings become easier to explore. You may find it helps you carry a little more calm into the rest of your week, whether that is at home in Crowthorne or at work.
